Reseller Tips

 4/5/23

I started Reselling around August 2020.

And I learned a few things. This is a little side hobby for me, to get a bit of pocket money. I would recommend it because if you have items around your home that you don't want anymore, you can resell it online and get some money back. Allowing other people to enjoy it. Keep in mind, you should do some research on how to list an item properly. You don't want to overprice or under price it either.

My personal TIPS to add to your Reselling Store:

Listing An Item

- Search online to see how much money the item(s) you would like to resell would possibly make if sold. I either look on EBAY or general Google searches or even Poshmark.

- Clean your item(s) that you are reselling because you want to ship it nicely to the customer.

- Take nice & detailed photos of the item(s) like about 4-8. Get all the angles.

- Add a descriptive detailed text for the item(s). Such as brand, color, material, size, condition, etc.

- Share to your platforms like Twitter, Instagram, & Facebook. Allowing more people to see your item and hopefully getting a sale.

Sold Item(s)

- Yay! Congratulations, you made a SALE. Time to nicely package it & ship. Try to keep it between 1-3 shipping days so it wont take so long to arrive to customer.

- When an item sells I like to send a message to the customer saying thank you & I will ship it ASAP.

"Thank you for purchasing from my shop! I will ship your order ASAP. I hope you have a lovely day."

- Be honest & make sure its either good condition or brand new. Keep it clean.

-  Have a box or bubble mailer with tissue paper and/or bubble wrap. Use USPS website for FREE Boxes. Not every online selling platform allows priority mail boxes so just be careful, get a plain box. Poshmark selling platform allows Usps Priority Mail Boxes. Just do your research.

- I like to recycle so I save up paper or boxes for packaging any sold items.

- Have a printer to print out a label. The different online selling platforms allow you to pick the option to have the customer to pay for shipping or you. It really depends on what you want but I usually have the customer pay for shipping price. I try to keep the package as light as possible.

PirateShip.com

- Have a nice thank you card. I like to include my small business logo sticker, sometimes with a sweet treat inside the box for the customer to enjoy.

Sometimes when the box looks plain and boring to me, I like to draw on it & add cute little designs/patterns. Have fun with packaging because a lot of times the customer really appreciates it.

And finally find your local post office & ship it.

Thrifting/Reselling

I have a mix of items I listed online that are personally mine like from my closet or some toys I don't use anymore but would like others to enjoy, & then I have items that I thrifted from a Goodwill store.

To Thrift & Resell items to me is great because it keeps clothing, toys, home decoration, etc out of landfills & into a new home for others to use instead of wasting it. There's just so many things on earth not being use & just taken to the trash. But we have to consider & care for the environment.

So just be reasonable when you resell items online because you don't want to sell it for a crazy high price but you don't want to loose money either. Just be smart about it. Be honest with your customers because you would want to be treated the same way.

I myself, have thrifted & bought a sweater from Goodwill, & I purchased a nice bag from Poshmark. And just getting involved with the Reselling Community is a plus. Getting to know other businesses & kind people.
